Using Spoon Theory to help protect and restore the mental health of writers.

About Spoon Writers

Spoon Writers is a blog dedicated to mental health for writers. Using the spoon theory, we help those who struggle with energy and creativity due to mental health challenges.

As someone who has faced mental and physical health struggles in the past, and who still fights to have enough spoons to finish a day, I created this space to support writers like myself.

Join our community to discover tools and inspiration for your writing journey.

I use the spoon theory for writers to provide a unique perspective, offering writing and mental health tips, plus books, to support mental health for writers.

Spoon theory explains energy limits using ‘spoons,’ helping writers with mental health challenges manage their creativity and daily tasks more effectively.

Each day you are granted an allotment of spoons. Some days you get lots, and some days you get only one.

Some spoons are larger than others. Some are very small.

When you want to write, you use a spoon. Large or small, it may be the only spoon you have.

When you want to write but have no spoons left, it can feel impossible to create.

This challenge affects all writers.

When you run out, especially if you run out consistently, your creative spirit gets strangled out.

Maybe it’s a mental health issue. Maybe it’s physical health. Maybe it’s commitments for work and family. Maybe it’s just a day that has gone wrong and you threw your spoons off a cliff in frustration!

Whatever the source, this blog and the books in the shop will help you save a spoon for your glorious, creative self!
